Can Cerave Daily Moisturizer Be Used on Face
CeraVe is one of the fastest growing and affordable skin care lines today. The whole brand focuses on making skin care products which are based on ceramides but. But does it piece of work the way it claims?
CeraVe is a much loved make by the drugstore skin intendance buffs, so I decided to give information technology a endeavour. Recently I started using CeraVe moisturizing cream every bit my daily facial foam. At present here's the deal, CeraVe already has 1 facial moisturizing lotion particularly for your face up (both Am/Pm). But, I thought why not endeavour the generic moisturizing cream on my face up and see what happens?
And then you guessed it right. Today I am going to share my own experience of using the CeraVe moisturizing cream on my face up for one month, so you can decide whether yous should give it a endeavor or non.
CeraVe: A bit about the make…
CeraVe was founded in 2022 by some dermatologists. They focused on formulating the products only based on 3 types of ceramide: ceramides 1, 3, and 6-2. In 2022 they launched iii core products: moisturizing Cream, moisturizing Lotion, and hydrating cleanser. Non only that, they patented 1 product delivery technology named MultiVesicular Emulsion Technology (MVE). Information technology's an unique and advance organisation which makes sure the moisturizing ingredients are released onto the skin layer by layer, keeping it soft.
And from at that place the name came: Cera from Ceramide and VE from the MVE applied science. Creative, right?
Currently CeraVe is owned by L'Oréal Paris. And has broaden their product range. They take lxx products for all type of peel requirements on market. All of them are dermatologist tested. They're popular for their peel care products. Especially cleansers and moisturizers cause the products are affordable and simple. On top of that, all of their products are fragrance, irritant gratuitous. This skin care line is a true gem!
Not to mention, more than 20 ceramide based CeraVe products have been recommended by the National Eczema Association. And guess what? The moisturizing cream is the almost recommended production past dermatologists in the United states. Yayyy!
The product: CeraVe moisturizer cream and its star ingredients
The goodies : Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Xanthan gum
I know most of you are thinking how "Cetearyl Booze" made into the goodie list? Well.. like humans, not all the alcohols are bad. Some are good likewise (pare care philosophy 101).
Cetearyl Alcohol are not like the conventional alcohols (instance: ethanol) yous should avert in your skin care products. It is a fatty booze and completely safety for a sensitive pare. Now breathe!
Cetearyl Alcohol is a fat alcohol and completely condom for any blazon of skins including sensitive skin.
Next comes ceramide. The ceramides found in this foam, Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP, Phytosphingosine are some of the common forms of ceramides used.Ceramides are wonder elements and found naturally in our skin. They're responsible to hold our skin cells together (similar mortars hold bricks) to create a barrier within the skin's surface.
As we age the amount of ceramide in our skin starts reducing, making the skin barrier thinner. The skin barrier is responsible to protect your skin from exterior threats and go on the inside (yeah like a gate keeper!). Therefore, information technology'southward important to accept plenty ceramide for a healthy pare bulwark.
The bonus is: ceramide is combined with cholesterol in this foam
Ceramide works amend when information technology is combined with other fatty acids or pare-replenishing ingredients like cholesterol.
Coming to hyaluronic acid and sodium lauroyl lactylate
Now everyone is familiar with hyaluronic acid and if yous are not, you can bank check my previous article nigh skin care actives. Briefly telling, hyaluronic acid is superb for hydration. Equally a thing of fact, It is a humectant. I was super happy when I saw its name on the ingredient characterization (yes I am a fan!).
And so, another ingredient, sodium lauroyl lactylate is an ingredient to dice for. It is an excellent selection for whatever skin care products focused on avant-garde moisturization. It is a common salt of lauric acid ester of lactyl lactate. The sodium backbone helps it to penetrate deep into the top layers of the skin easily. And it helps to enhance the moisturizing effect. (too much chemistry? Sorry!).
Lastly comes the ingredient called xanthan gum, a natural ingredient. It is a sugar-based polymer non an agile. Xanthan gum is usually used for increasing the viscosity of the product. Coupled with viscosity, it too helps to agree all the ingredients together. Such a friendly guy!
From the goodies list, it seems similar the product has the perfect ingredients to do what it claims, "moisturizing". But wait…let's check other ingredients and determine.
The bad boys: Petrolatum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben,
I will commencement with parabens…
Parabens are the Kardashians of the skin care manufacture; they are controversial. CeraVe, the ceramide based moisturizer contains two types of parabens: methyl and propyl.
Then what are these?
Parabens are a group of synthetic compounds used as preservatives in the personal care products. Now there are lots doubts among people regarding this ingredient. Information technology started cause the structure of parabens are similar to estrogens, which can cause risk of breast cancer.
It became a matter of concern when a British study constitute of traces of v parabens in the breast tumors of 19 out of 20 women studied. Notwithstanding, the study couldn't link any relationship between parabens and tumor, so was plant invalid. Only people are not so sure nigh this ingredient till appointment.
Even so, the study couldn't link any relationship between parabens and tumor, so was plant invalid.
Some other controversial toxic ingredient is Petrolatum
It is used in skin intendance products as a barrier to lock moisture in the skin and swell for dry skin. However, The European Marriage put restrictions on petrolatum and just allows information technology when the refinery history is known. Well, the reason backside this is valid. Properly refined petrolatum has no known health risks. But, those with incomplete refinery can be contaminated and possess carcinogenic backdrop.
My personal experience…
I bought CeraVe moisturizing foam from Amazon Canada. Believe information technology or not, the cream is only x.99 CAD.
I volition be honest, I was non expecting much. However, I must confess..this moisturizer surprised me. I was using it as my twenty-four hours time daily moisturizer. Later on using information technology for one months, I tin say this product is super affordable and works on your peel.
The good things about CeraVe moisturizing cream:
- Lightweight, doesn't make your face greasy
- No fragrance, I beloved the fact that this cream is free of fragrance .
- Not to mention, friendly to your wallet
- Contains ceramide which is good for all type of skins, specially dry & dehydrated
- Suitable for any skin type
- Easy to find in stores, easy to utilize on face
- Can be combined with other skin care actives
The "not so good" things most CeraVe moisturizing cream:
- The Kardashians a.m.a. Parabens.
- Petrolatum… because from the label it's not possible to know whether the petrolatum was refined completely or not. So, that leaves a doubt.
Would I recommend it?…
Of course…If you are like me who is into peel intendance, want all the good things but at the same fourth dimension witting almost your wallet; this product is for you.
Yes, CeraVe moisturizing foam is good for your confront indeed and information technology does what it says. Skin care doesn't always take to be expensive. This product is the perfect example of that.
Despite of all the expert stuff, if you are yet concerned about the existence of parabens and petrolatum... but to be on safe side: you can avoid this product. Yous might consider looking for something which has more natural ingredients.
