Canned baked beans, to eat or not to eat?

I know pregnant women are supposed to avoid canned foods but my doctor said it's fine to even have canned tuna, so I'm wondering if baked beans is fine if I heat it up!?

I think the things with canned foods are they can contain BPA. I believe Heinz has made a move to BPA free cans

@blauesvoegele,

that's good to know! I love canned beans in generally and canned tuna 😩

I've never heard to avoid canned foods. Tuna is because of high levels of mercury so you don't want to have it more than a couple times a week. I'm sure you're fine having some beans.

Sadly I had some canned beans shortly after i found out I was pregnant. I have since had ZERO desire to see one single, solitary bean again, let alone an entire can!!!! Go on & enjoy, you can eat all the beans! Lol

You should be fine :)

Beans are an awesome pregnancy food. Canned foods are fine, except for their high sodium. (Increase bloating.) Tuna is on the "eat sparingly" list due to mercury as a PP said.

@userdeletedalias83390847,

I'm Canadian, close enough lol! They are yummy!!

I'm sticking with the foods my doctor tells me to avoid. Canned food has not come up (with the exception of canned tuna). I make hummus every week using canned chickpeas! I'm trying not to drive myself crazy with all these additional eating rules. Doesn't it feel like you have to avoid healthy foods?

@gemeg123,

it sure does!!😴 it's like what can we eat!! I feel like I'm a China doll lol!

@gemeg123,

Yeah I am craving chicken soup and it says we ain't allowed it I was so upset I burst into tears hormones ????

I think probably fine. I made chili with canned beans the other day. it's a good source of healthy protein.

I'm so glad I also read you ain't allowed chicken soup I was just about to have a tin so tonight I need to go look for ingredients to make my own it's bloody shocking

WIC gives you canned beans.. I don't see what doctors you people have omg lol

It even says on the NHS website "these can be fresh, frozen, canned..."

Just like anything chick, eat in moderation :)
